Etsy Fees 2026 Explained: What You Actually Keep per Sale

Published 2026-10-13 · Updated 2026-10-13

Etsy's fees look small one by one, but together they usually take about 10% of every sale, and much more if a sale comes through Offsite Ads. Here is what US sellers pay in 2026 and how to work out what you actually keep.

Short answer: a typical Etsy sale costs about 9.5% + $0.45 in fees (listing + transaction + payment processing), before any advertising.

The three fees on every sale

Fee Amount (US sellers) Charged on
Listing fee $0.20 Each listing (renews every 4 months or after a sale)
Transaction fee 6.5% Item price plus shipping and gift wrap
Payment processing 3% + $0.25 The full order total

The transaction fee surprises many new sellers because it also applies to the shipping you charge. Raising shipping to "hide" costs does not avoid it.

Fees that only apply sometimes

Payment processing rates differ outside the US (for example, UK sellers are commonly quoted 4% + £0.20), so check the fee page for your country.

Worked example: a $29.99 item

Say you sell a $29.99 item with free shipping. It costs you $10 to make and $5 to pack and ship.

Item Amount
Sale price $29.99
Listing fee −$0.20
Transaction fee (6.5%) −$1.95
Payment processing (3% + $0.25) −$1.15
Product cost −$10.00
Shipping & packaging −$5.00
Net profit $11.69 (39.0% margin)

If the same order came through Offsite Ads at 15%, another $4.50 would come off, leaving about $7.19.

What price do you need?

To keep a 25% profit margin on that product, you would need to charge at least $23.59 on Etsy. Below about $17 you would start losing money on each sale.

Tips to keep more of each sale
